We understand that taking the first step toward seeing a therapist can feel overwhelming. At Edge Hill Clinic, we aim to create a calm and welcoming atmosphere from the very beginning.
If you have any questions or concerns before your appointment—big or small—our friendly reception team is here to help. Don’t hesitate to reach out; we’re committed to making your initial experience as supportive and stress-free as possible.
The First Appointment
Your first appointment usually lasts around 45 minutes, offering a thoughtful introduction designed to put you at ease. During this time, we will discuss the concerns outlined in your referral, explore your relevant personal and medical background, and begin working with you toward a personalized treatment plan.
To make the most of this session, please bring along any pertinent medical reports or test results. You may also find it helpful to jot down your main concerns, goals for therapy, and any questions you’d like to ask—this helps the conversation flow smoothly and ensures your priorities are addressed
Confidentiality
At Edge Hill Clinic, we prioritise your privacy. Therapist-patient conversations are confidential, including those with children and adolescents. However, confidentiality may be limited in situations involving safety concerns or legal requirements, such as a subpoena. If you have questions about confidentiality, please discuss them during your appointment.
Our team at Edge Hill Clinic is committed to collaborating with you to develop a management plan tailored to your needs. If differences in opinion arise, we encourage you to discuss them with your doctor, who can help address concerns or refer you to another practitioner if necessary.
